Search terms

OK...I have to admit that I borrowed blatantly stole this idea from someone else's blog. Google is an amazing thing. However, I'm not at all certain how the following search terms could have landed anyone on my little cyber space over the past month.

With all that said, here is the list:

"cheap flowers" (I'm not sure if I should be offended or oddly proud of this one)


"trombone tattoo ideas" (To the best of my knowledge, I haven't ever blogged about those)

"hispanicpastries" (Thank God for that 'r')

"key tattoos on legs" (Again, I'm drawing a blank on how tattoo searches would have led to my inkless blog)

"one of my favorite" (Aww shucks, you're one of my favorites too!)

"st pete vineyard facebook" (Totally legit, since I have been the worship leader there for over two years)

"tattooed legs" (Maybe I should get some tats and begin blogging about them...seems to be in high demand)

So, there you have it. These are the search terms that led some of the 344 visitors to my blog over the past month. I have to admit that this is a pretty cool exercise and I'll plan on updates from time to time.

And with that one simple, snarled-lip sound clip from the king, (I think) I'm back. Hesitantly, almost certainly, maybe positively, invariably missing a day or two, back. If you have read any part of my blog for the past year or so, you know one thing is certain...I'll fall off the blogging wagon sooner or later.

But, I have a couple of things going for me now: I have a new iPhone4S with it's snazzy little 8MP camera (squeeeeee!) as well as MOvember. If you didn't catch this post, go read it to catch up on my sure to be awful mustache growing experiment/fundraising adventure that will begin on November MOvember 1st.

Also, I just saw this blog post today and feel...inspired about iPhoneography once again. The stuff you can do with Apple's magical little device is astounding. And I'm all mostly (back) in. With that, stay tuned and remember all guarantees in this blog are certain to be untrue or at least partially disappointing or I'll refund 100% of the money you paid me to view my blog.

Creative stretching

My lovely wife has taken on some pretty creative challenges over the last few years. She started hand-making greeting cards, joined/formed a band with her brother, and taken up photography as a hobby. At the same time, she has continued to be a stellar mom and wife as well as clean, cook, laugh at my jokes and basically been the the glue keeping our life little slice of heaven together.

This year, however, she has really begun stretching herself creatively. She started blogging as well as organizing a Flickr group/challenge. For the first month of the year, I sat idly by, letting her and her circle of friends snap away and was content to be a spectator as everyone snapped and processed and uploaded. But, in February, I just couldn't stand it any longer. So, I gave in and joined the group/photo-a-day challenge.

Not to be completely overwhelmed and overtaken by my wife's creative streak, I added my own wrinkle—I would only use my iPhone for picture taking to post-processing to uploading (take that, girly-girl).

What to say? Well...so far, so good. I'm not a photographer. I'm more musical in my creativity. But, I'm learning a lot about myself and my eye and...well, that I might be able to actually pull this off without looking like a monkey.

So, with that in mind, I submit to you a few couple of my faves (so far). Just...be gentle. I'm still new and quite fragile. Who knows? Maybe, one day, I'll be almost as creative as this chick.

Back in the Saddle Again...Again

Aloha.

We all know what it means. We've heard it a gazillion times. In Hawaii, aloha means hello and farewell at the same time. John and Paul made it sound better with "Hello, Goodbye", but I'll just stick with, aloha. And I really mean that.

I said all of that to say this...this isn't the first time I've done this—taken a break from blogging. Taken a looooooooong break from blogging. About two years, to be exact. I really need to stay on top of things, but it's just too easy to get out of a habit, especially when most of the things I "say" anymore ends up fitting into a nice 140 character or less snippet for all of my followers in Twitter/Facebook-land to see.

Perhaps this will be a new start or era or just another interruption in a long string of non-blogs that have spanned the past two or three years of my online life. In the immortal words of Pooh, "Oh, bother!".

For now, let us call it what it is...I'm here, blogging, and hopefully, someone—anyone, is reading. If not, all I've done is littered the information highway with just a few more ones and zeroes. And maybe a fun, coherent thought or three.

No promises. No commitments. I'll say something else when (or even if) I ever get around to it again. I guess this is the defining mark of my iLife.
